With Canadian Thanksgiving coming up this weekend I wanted to share some holiday table inspiration. This year I’m going non-traditional with a gold and green theme inspired by eucalyptus and natural elements.

I adore Thanksgiving – the feast, the togetherness, the focus on gratitude. It’s a day that feels slow, and cozy, and savoured. My perfect kind of day.
When I’m designing I usually start with one inspiration piece and work from there. This year it was eucalyptus. Then I layered in green and cream gourds, and added warmth and shine with brass candles and chargers. I ended up styling this table two ways – one with more gold elements and a second look, switching out only the napkins and chargers for more neutral and natural pieces, plus adding in some pine cones. I adore both looks, which probably speaks to my indecisive nature.

I chose to keep the table bare for a more natural look – kind of rustic meets glam vibe. But you could definitely create this look on a white tablecloth for a more formal feel.

Another thing I love about this tablescape is that the pieces will have life beyond the use of this table. The eucalyptus will be dried for arrangements and the squash are edible varieties to feed our fall soup cravings.

I like to incorporate minimalism and sustainability into my life wherever possible, and I don’t like having a bunch of seasonal decor stored away. I believe you can use produce, florals and even foraged things (think leaves, pine cones, branches) to elevate your holiday table without a bunch of single-use items and without sacrificing one ounce of style.

So what do you think of the non-traditional colour palette? Would you choose the all-out gold table or the pinecone table? I’d love to know!
